Born in St Albans, England

Elaine believes that: Ďan artist works with their hands, head and heartí and hopes that this is reflected in her work. She has always loved creating with fabrics and threads, and enjoyed teaching Art through the medium of Textiles for over thirty years. Elaine has reclaimed her creativity and enjoys producing work for exhibitions, galleries and friends.

 

Much of her inspiration comes from her travels around Andalusia. The light, heat and the sun of the area influence the colours, textures and the content. Other areas that have influenced her are the sea and beaches of The Wirral in England and Riviera on The Costa Del Sol. A visit to Southern Ireland influenced yet another body of work.

Her pictures are usually composed of a combination of mediums. They always involve machine and hand embroidery on handmade backgrounds. For these she uses wool and silk fibres, handmade papers and sheers, which she frequently distresses by burning.

 

Elaine has exhibited extensively and her work can be found in private collections across the world. Some of her most notable exhibitions in the past two years have been:
